Maya Shae’s series, A White Man’s Nightmare, subverts racist images to confront social issues. The concept utilizes Law 44, “disarm and infuriate with the mirror effect,” from Robert Greene’s book The 48 Laws of Power. By replacing the antagonist in the racist reference images with African Americans the series forces its audience to reflect on the injustices experienced by the Black community.
